Today as you read this, we will be headed South, to Art of the Cowgirl in Phoenix. We’re taking a home-raised filly — one we’re pretty dang proud of. In fact, she was the pick of the 2017 foal crop.
Dx Iyama Poco Dancer (Paisley), is the culmination of 40+years of our breeding program here at The DX Ranch. She’s been friendly since she was days old, always wanting you to pet her. She’ll hunt you up for scratches.
Her sire, Poco Tivio Pep, is our go-to babysitter horse and is one of our favorite sires. His get are always easy to start, and willing to please. We use them on the ranch for every job, and he has two offspring currently heading for the barrel racing arena.
Her dam has produced colts on the place for nearly 20 years. She has produced some of the gentlest, easiest to start horses in our herd, and in our herd. That says a lot.
If not for this special event, she’d be destined for our broodmare band. She may well be the the last filly out of this mare. Paisley should be able to go any direction you choose and do well for anyone. Her kind eye, willing disposition, and excellent conformation are sure to make her a success.
As we’ve been preparing her for the trip, we’ve had our intern, Yahel Applebaum, playing with her. She got her good about having her feet handled. Good about loading in the trailer. As well as various other things to help her handle the long trip to Arizona. Yahel did a great job preparing her. In this video below, we clean her feet up for the first time.
We hope to see you at Art of the Cowgirl. If you’re there, come say hi! And if you’re in the market for a gorgeous horse to add to your herd, we think Paisley would be a welcome addition!
I will see you at Art of the Cowgirl.
